Paris Internationale
21 October 2025 — 26 October 2025
In its first international art fair Climate Control will present work by Noah Barker (USA) and Alonso Leon-Velarde (Perú).
Alonso Leon-Velarde’s painting practice explores transformation as a method both cultural and pictorial. In his work images, symbols, and histories are absorbed, wed, and regurgitated into new forms. Drawing on archaeological traces such as the Nazca lines, Catholic iconography, and vernacular markets of Latin America, Leon-Velarde considers the tension between orthodoxy and improvisation–illusion and revelation. His recent series engages ‘the mirage’ as both a perceptual phenomenon and a metaphor for political and spiritual deception. To do so, his painterly language channels a kind of antenna, transmitting mystical, syncretic visions rooted in the landscape. Alonso Leon Velarde (b. 1993 Lima, PE) Lives and works between Lima, PE and Mexico City, MX.
